Bournemouth Collegiate School (Age 10-16)
(ex Wentworth College)
History:
Bournemouth Collegiate School has a long history, and was originally founded in 1899. In 1923 it moved to its present location, taking over Wentworth Lodge, the former home of Lord Portman.
Location:
Just two minutes from the beach, the school sits atop the cliffs of Bournemouth. It is surrounded by eight acres of private tree-lined land, providing privacy and security for our students. London is an easy two-hour coach journey from the school, and many other world-class destinations, such as Oxford and Bath, are also within reach. All major UK airports, including Heathrow and Gatwick, are easily accessible.
Accommodation:
Rooms vary from single to multi-bed dormitories, and have all been recently refurbished. Showers and baths are easily accessible, and a weekly laundry service is offered. Homestay accommodation is also available with local host families on a bed and breakfast basis, with our private transport service taking students to school and back home again every day.
Meals:
Students enjoy freshly prepared food three times a day. The menu changes each week, with plenty of variety to keep students happy and healthy. Special diets can be catered for with prior notice, such as halal, celiac, etc.
Facilities:
The school offers a wide range of excellent facilities including: tennis courts; an all-weather astro pitch; a 25m indoor swimming pool; a large sports hall offering a full Olympic-size basketball court; large sports fields for football, volleyball, hockey etc. In addition to this, the beach is right on the school’s doorstep.
Activities and Excursions:
A full daily activities programme keeps our students entertained, with both afternoon and evening activities taking place every day of the week. In addition, students have one half-day and one full-day excursion every week, giving them the chance to visit London, Oxford, Bath, Stonehenge, and more, all while under the supervision of our activity staff.
