Terms & Conditions
Enrolment
Students should complete the enrolment form and send it to the agent or direct it to the school if there is no agent involved.
Registration
Your place at school is confirmed when we have received a payment of £280 (£80 enrolment fee plus £200 deposit). The deposit (£200) will be deducted from the amount you finally have to pay.
Payment
All fees must be paid in full at least 4 weeks prior to the start of the course. If the enrolment is made less than 30 days before the start of the course, the full amount must be paid at the time of the enrolment. All bank charges are the responsibility of the payer.
Accommodation
Southbourne School is an agent for accommodation. Everything you pay for you accommodation will be given to the family you are staying with. We do not allow a reduction for parts of a week, but you will have to pay for any extra days.
Students should inform their host family of their intended arrival time at least 48 hours before they arrive. This will ensure that there is someone at home to welcome the student when they arrive.
Holidays
Apart from national holidays, students are only allowed to take holidays if they were pre-booked at the time of enrolment. An administration fee of £10.00 will be charged for any changes in holiday dates. No refunds or extensions will be allowed for periods of unarranged holidays.
Cancellations
If you want to cancel a course, you must send us this information by registered letter. We cannot refund the registration fee of £80. You will have to pay for one week’s course and accommodation if you cancel less than 15 days before the course start.
Fees for 24-36-48 weeks will not usually be refunded, unless there are special reasons. The Director will decide if a refund should be made.
For all courses, if you need to cancel because you cannot get a visa, we will refund your fees, but not the registration fee of £80. If your visa has been refused, you need to send us a copy of the letter from the British Embassy.
Finishing early
Should the course be abandoned before completion, no refund of fees is possible. In the event of absence from lessons no refund is possible and there is no entitlement to extending the period at the school. In special cases the Director will exercise his discretion.
Expulsion
You will be expelled (told to leave the school) for these reasons:
- If your attendance is 70% or less
- If you bully students or staff
- If your behaviour is not acceptable
- If you steal or damage the school on purpose
Damage
If you damage school or homestay property, even if it is an accident, you will have to pay the full cost of the repair or replacement.
Liability
The school is not responsible if your course does not run or you lose lessons because of public disturbance, industrial action, natural disasters or epidemics.
The school is not responsible if you lose anything. You should take out insurance to cover health problems, losing things, damage and having to go back to your Country unexpectedly. We will always pay compensation if we are proved to have been negligent.
Complaints
Any problems with either the course or accommodation should be taken up with the academic principal or school welfare officer. We will always do our best to resolve all problems as quickly as possible.
The school reserves the right
To refuse to enrolment to any student, to change the price or course programmes in this brochure without notice and to refuse lessons and accommodation if you have not paid all money you owe.
