We are sorry to announce sad news

We are sorry to have to tell you that one of our teachers, David Pountney, died after a short illness on Sunday 8th July.

David worked at Southbourne School of English from May 1997 to April 2012, when he was taken ill.  Many of our students will have fond memories of David’s lessons and his hard work in the Language Laboratory and Library – not to mention his superb performances in the recent Christmas pantomimes.  We miss David a lot.

We are sure you will join us in thinking of his family at this sad time.

OLYMPIC STAR of Southbourne School of English!!!

Mathilde Geron, from Le Havre, born in 1986 and a pupil of Southbourne School of English, is representing her country France, in the Olympic sailing women’s 470. She attended SSE in the summer of 2004.

Over the last few years she has taken part in races held in Barcelona, Perth, Majorca, Helsinki and Miami, USA. Earlier this summer she and her sailing partner, Camille Lecointre, won a major race off Portland Harbour and Weymouth Bay, coming first in the OK dinghy World Championships. This young duo is considered one of the most versatile in the world.
