We have been taking care of junior students and providing English language courses since 1966. Our Junior Summer Course run from the middle of June until the end of August. These courses are for independent students between 12 and 15 (or 9 and 16 in organised groups with their own group leader). We are very experienced in providing our junior students with a great mix of educational and social learning skills that we hope will be with them forever.
Courses can be booked for a minimum of one week but many students choose to stay for a month or more. Students have 15 one-hour lessons each week, from Monday to Friday. Classes are small, averaging 12 students per class.
We know how important it is for our students to be happy where they are living so that they have happy memories to take home. This is why we choose all of our homestay accommodation with special care. Students studying at Southbourne School stay with a warm and caring host family. These families have all been checked by the police and also visited by our accommodation officer.
Host families provide a very homely environment and are ALL within easy walking distance of the school.
Students experience typical English meals (breakfast and dinner with their host families every day. British meals have changed a lot over the past few years! Although we love fish and chips that is not all we eat! British food is now very cosmopolitan and you will experience a wide variety of international cuisine with your host family. On school days we give you a freshly prepared packed lunch to eat at the school whilst on the weekends your host family will provide your lunches. Special diets, such as coeliac, can be catered to at an extra cost.
