Toast, tea and conversation — your first English practice of the day happens before you've left the house.
08:45 — The walk to school
Every homestay host is within walking distance or a short bus ride. Most students walk with friends they've made in class.
09:00 — Morning lessons
Three hours of communicative English in classrooms with interactive screens, with a coffee break in the café halfway through. Speaking first, grammar in context, no dozing at the back.
12:15 — Lunch
The café seats 110 and the garden seats everyone else. Sunny days mean lunch under the tree; rainy days mean table-tennis tournaments in the games room.
13:30 — Afternoon options
Intensive students head back to class for fluency sessions. Everyone else: beach volleyball, a trip to Christchurch, or the cinema room. On summer courses, the afternoon activity programme runs daily.
18:00 — Dinner at home
Back to your homestay host for dinner — the dinner-table chat is where students tell us their English improved most.
20:00 — Evenings
Quiz night at school, a sunset swim, or homework with your housemates. Repeat tomorrow — it gets better every day.
