The nearest bus stop, Herberton Road, is on Beaufort Road less than a minute from the school door and is served by the morebus 1b towards Bournemouth, Boscombe and Christchurch. For more frequent services, the stops at Fisherman's Walk and Southbourne Grove are a five-minute walk away.

Getting around

Trains, coaches and local buses

Three websites cover almost every journey you'll make while you're here. All three have English-language sites and apps, and all three are cheaper if you book ahead.

Trains

Trainline

Where to buy tickets for UK trains. Use it for journeys from Pokesdown or Bournemouth station to London Waterloo, Southampton, Salisbury, Winchester and beyond.

Student tip: book a week or two ahead for the cheapest “Advance” fares, and if you're 16–30 and staying a while, a Railcard pays for itself quickly — it takes a third off most fares. Tickets arrive on your phone, so you don't need to queue.

Coaches

National Express

Long-distance coaches across the UK. This is usually the cheapest way to travel between Bournemouth and Heathrow, Gatwick, London Victoria and other major cities.

Student tip: coaches leave from the Bournemouth Travel Interchange next to Bournemouth railway station, about 15 minutes from school by bus. Book online in advance rather than on the day, and allow extra time on airport journeys in case of traffic.

Local buses

morebus

The local bus company for Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole — including the 1b that stops on Beaufort Road outside the school, and services along Southbourne Grove into town.

Student tip: download the morebus app for live times and to buy weekly or monthly passes, which work out far cheaper than paying for each journey. You can also tap a contactless card when you board.
