Adult and Junior English Courses in Bournemouth – Learn English at Every Age

Before you start your course at our English school in Bournemouth, we may send you an English pretest to check your level. This helps us place you in the right class, so you study with students at a similar level. It’s important to complete this test so everyone can learn together and no one is left behind.

If you’re joining one of our Adult English Courses, you will receive a Certificate of Attendance at the end of your course. This will show your English level and how many lessons you attended.

Adult English Courses in Bournemouth

We offer a wide range of English courses for adults. Two of the most popular options are:

• General English Course (15 hours per week)

• Intensive English Course (21 hours per week)

Our General English Course is great for beginners or intermediate learners. You will have 3 hours of English lessons every weekday morning – the perfect way to build your skills at a comfortable pace.

The Intensive English Course offers more learning time and helps you progress faster. It includes an extra 6 hours per week with a flexible syllabus, designed to meet your goals.

Cambridge English Exam Courses

Looking for a recognised English qualification? We offer Cambridge Examination Courses to help you prepare for:

• B2 First (formerly FCE)

• C1 Advanced (formerly CAE)

These courses consist of 4 weeks of 21 hours per week, and are available on set dates throughout the year. These courses run with a minimum of three students.

One-to-one English Courses for Adults and Juniors

Our One-to-one English courses can be booked for students aged 10+ year round, and include private tuition with an experienced teacher. Book 1 or more hours and choose the specific topics or skills you would like to focus on, like Business English or anything else!

Summer English Courses for Adults

From mid-June to late August, our school becomes a lively international hub. Our summer English courses for adults include morning or afternoon English lessons and a fun activity programme in the other part of the day. It’s the perfect mix of education, adventure, and making new friends in beautiful Bournemouth.

Junior English Courses in Bournemouth

We also offer exciting English courses for juniors aged 9+, with homestay available from age 10. Our Summer English courses for juniors are designed to help young learners improve their English while having fun and staying safe.

Junior students enjoy:

• A full activity programme including sports, games, and cultural trips

• Visits to famous UK destinations like London, Oxford, and Bath

Studying in Bournemouth gives you the opportunity to see and do so much! At Southbourne School of English we organise a fun and varied social programme with friendly activity leaders. There are many beautiful attractions to visit in Dorset including stately homes, castles and an award-winning museum called Beaulieu Motor Museum, where there are some of the cars used in the James Bond films. On our social programme you will have the opportunity to visit London, Oxford, Bath, Stonehenge, the historical Jurassic coast and more!

Evenings are fun, too, with more social events such as film nights, quizzes and cultural theme nights.

Our programmes include a large selection of sports including football, beach volleyball, basketball, mini golf, rounders and cricket. For an additional fee we can also arrange wind-surfing, paddle-boarding, kite surfing and sailing lessons locally or in Poole Harbour, which is the largest natural harbour in the world.
