English Language Courses

Every student’s level of English is different, so we take great care to match your course with your language ability and needs. Making sure that you are in the right class is our priority.

At the start of the course, we give you a placement test to assess your level of English. We then make sure that you learn with other students at the same level. That way, no one is left behind.

Once you’ve completed your course, you’ll get a Certificate of Attendance showing the language level you have reached, and your attendance. You can also join one of our courses leading to a recognised qualification.

We offer the range of Cambridge Examination courses. We guarantee that the Cambridge Examination courses will always run on the dates advertised provided that somebody has booked the full course.

On occasions there may be students in class who are 15 years (nearly 16)

There’s more than just studying in Bournemouth

At Southbourne School of English we organise a fun and varied social programme with friendly activity leaders. There are many beautiful attractions to visit in Dorset including stately homes, castles and an award winning museum called Beaulieu Motor Museum, where there are some of the cars used in the James Bond films. On our social programme you will have the opportunity to visit London, Oxford, Bath, Stonehenge and the historical Jurassic coast.

Evenings are fun, too, with social events such as film nights, quizzes and cultural theme nights.

Our programmes include a large selection of sports including football, volleyball, basketball, mini golf, rounders and cricket. For an additional fee we can also arrange wind-surfing, paddle boarding, kite surfing and sailing lessons locally or in Poole Harbour, which is the largest natural harbour in the world.
